Suzi Goldsmith

Suzi Goldsmith is the Founder and President of Tri-County Animal Rescue, one of South Florida’s leading no-kill animal rescue organizations. For nearly four decades, she has dedicated her life to rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for abused, abandoned, and neglected animals throughout the region and beyond.

In 1986, after witnessing inhumane conditions and routine euthanasia at a municipal animal shelter, Suzi made the decision to create a different model for animal welfare—one rooted in compassion, rehabilitation, and second chances. Alongside fellow volunteer Jeannette Christos, she began rescuing animals independently before officially establishing Tri-County Animal Rescue as a nonprofit organization in 1996. Under her leadership, the organization later assumed operations of the Boca Raton municipal shelter under a long-term lease, immediately transforming it into a no-kill facility.

Today, Tri-County Animal Rescue operates on 14 acres and has successfully placed nearly 100,000 dogs and cats into loving homes. The organization rescues animals from high-kill shelters, hoarding situations, puppy mills, natural disasters, and severe neglect cases across the country. In addition to rescue operations, Tri-County operates the Lois Pope Pet Clinic, providing affordable and pro bono veterinary care, pet food assistance, and community support services to help families keep their animals healthy and at home.

Known for her unwavering commitment and refusal to turn animals away in times of crisis, Suzi has become a respected voice in animal welfare advocacy throughout Florida, particularly in efforts to combat puppy mills and unethical breeding practices. Her work has earned widespread recognition for both its compassion and its lasting impact on the South Florida community.
